Energy Efficiency.

Just a short post tonight,

From the moment we wake up to the moment we fall asleep, we have limited amounts of energy. This is determined by our health, our diet, our mood, and hundreds of other variables. And the more and more energy we use up, the harder it is to use what's left. The key to maximizing the efficiency of this limited energy is understanding where most of it is used.

Don't waste your time and energy with fruitless and tiresome activities. Not to say don't enjoy yourself, but we can't dodge our responsibilities forever, so best to do them well I say.

Just another point. When you miss your recommended eight hours of sleep, you build up what's called sleep debt. This literally means you're going to have to pay those off someday. So try not to gamble with your hours, you can't beat city hall.

Enjoy yourselves, stay healthy.

  2. If my debt gets high enough without being paid off, does that mean I'll just die early?

  8. Does anyone else notice that if you get an even number of hours of sleep, you are dead tired in the morning, but if you get an odd number of hours, you are good to go? I heard it has to do with REM patterns?

  12. Exercise helps too - it's amazing how much more energy you have during the day if you smash out a run or some weights first thing in the morning!

  14. Even if sleep debt is false, it's still unhealthy to get too much sleep.

  15. @AD. Finally, something to debate against. After looking further into it, I concede. However, omitting the literal part, I'm sure that you can agree that to work off the effects of sleep debt, increasing the hours you sleep the next night, or throughout the week, is a sure fire way to overcome it, providing you don't have sleep disorders.

As I've mentioned, I'm only human. Thank you though, you've offered me a new perspective on this.
